Troubleshooting For a Uhaul That Won't Start

Ensure there's enough gas in the tank. Neutral Safety Switch: U-Haul trucks, like many vehicles, have a safety feature that prevents them from starting if they're not in 'Park' or 'Neutral. ' Double-check the gear position and try starting again.

If a Covered Customer under Safetrip^® has a dead battery, in the U-Haul truck, even if due to leaving lights on, U-Haul Roadside Assistance will dispatch a Service Provider from our network to jumpstart. The Customer or their Authorized Driver must call U-Haul Roadside Assistance 1-800-468-4285 for coverage.

Although some independent U-Haul dealers ensure their trucks have GPS tracking, over 90% of truck rental companies do not equip their vehicles with GPS tracking devices. This makes it the responsibility of the renter to protect the U-Haul equipment.

Generally, you'll have two options when disputing a transaction: refund or chargeback. A refund comes directly from a merchant, while a chargeback comes from your card issuer. The first step in the dispute process should be to go directly to the merchant and request a refund.

Why my truck suddenly won't start? ›

We recommend jump-starting to get going and possibly replacing the battery, as a new battery is not too expensive. It could also be a lack of oil, or the starter motor may need to be replaced.

There are a number of reasons why your car might be slow to start but runs as-normal once it gets going. Causes can vary from weather conditions to battery health, wiring issues, starter motor concerns and fuel-pump health.

If you attempt to start up your car but the engine won't turn over and the dashboard lights up, then you most likely have an issue with your battery. You could have a damaged or corroded battery terminal, which is stopping the engine from starting up when you fully turn the key.

Typically, your car can sit about four weeks to two months without driving before the battery dies. The reason your car can sit only for so long before it dies is the fact that your car battery is in use even when you're not behind the wheel.

Your car battery can drain over time from stereo components (subwoofers), phone chargers, and anything you leave plugged into vehicle outlets that continue to draw power from the battery after the car is turned off. Other power drains include interior and below-vehicle LED lights. Loose or corroded connections.

But sitting unused for a long time could kill your battery. If your battery is three or more years old, it could really mean the end for your battery. The amount of time a car sits before the battery finally dies depends on the car itself, but you can prolong the life of your battery.

How old do I need to be to rent and/or operate equipment from U-Haul? Customers must be 16 years of age to rent trailers and 18 years of age to rent trucks. A government-issued driver's license is required to rent our trucks and trailers. Do I need a special driver's license to rent U-Haul equipment?
