What's the origin of this IQ distribution graphic? Seems like bullsh*t, I want to know the study of where it came from.

idk, but it's an explanation for why most homeless people are men and most fortune 500 ceos are men. males tend to be higher risk takers than females so their life accomplishments are going to variate more- Anonymous

But males have outliers when it comes to everything. Mother nature experiments with the males and sees which ones are able to reproduce and leaves the females alone to select the winning males. So you end up with lots of normal women or average women with very few outliers although it doesn't happen.
And you end up with the opposite with males. Few average guys and many more outliers. So males have a lot more intelligent males and dumbass males. They have a lot more good looking guys and ugly as sh*t guys. They have realy tall people and very short and not a lot in between.

OP's pic is an exaggeration of the standard deviation differences between men and women, but there is a small but significant difference. You can find plenty of references to studies and raw data for it at http://www.lagriffedulion.f2s.com/ . See the articles about Sex and aptitude differences.

Women are more consistently intelligent than men, but lack variety.
Men are represented on both ends of the extremes, as you see.

Pretty sure that 1) when tested as adults, men have something like 5 points higher IQ on average and 2) IQ tests deliberately use fewer visuospatial questions, which men do better on
So, in all likelihood, women are just flat out dumber than men.

It's not just one study, OP... and the disparity in variability isn't relegated to IQ; males have more outliers on the bell curves of pretty much every other quantitative phenotype because the X chromosome has a stabilizing effect on genetic expression.
The bad news is that also means men get diseases more often, but whatever

It's the variability hypothesis. It's a known phenomenon that men are more variable in not only intelligence but other traits as well. The same sex difference in variability also exists in non-human animals
